I just heard a morning radio show (obviously on the radio). and it was tackling job thingie. 1 women asked(be reminded its rough): "i am currently working as a marketing lady, but my passion is into comic because i wanted to be a coimic artist..." there were more words but thats the summary.

the lady answered "well, if you are doing marketing, FORGET COMIC ARTIST, cos you ll need cash, take marketing as a money taker, and comics as.... your free time..."

---
which leads to me, as its almost the same thing (except i am a web designer so its... kinda ok), so once again, my brain starts ticking off again. . .
just like that marketing girl, i really wonder bout people, just because the comic industry is kinda a little.... kaka dookie here, why does people hate it?

and another thing, if we oughta put comic artist as free time. then when? when will we shine out?

i think i should mail her for that. not really a hate mail, but kinda like, explanation.

That's what the world thinks: Oh, so you want to be a comic artist? SCREW THAT! You have to think about MONEY! Make that your hobby or something, this is REALITY we're talking about.

Sicko people with their 'reality thinking'.... >_>

Where is the love for the comic industry??? D:
people like that think that money is the only thing you should work for.

I personally believe that if you're not happy where you're at, then the money's not really worth it.

I think people should stop asking for opinions on their career paths and think for themselves. I mean, you don't need opinions about what you should do...you need advice on how to do what you WANT to do.

Besides, opinions are more like....outhouses; some are pretty descent, and the rest are full of shit.

"just like that marketing girl, i really wonder bout people, just because the comic industry is kinda a little.... kaka dookie here, why does people hate it?"

People don't hate it, it's just that they are looking down upon the comic industry. On a horrible extent. Plus the fact that the gahmen refuse to see it as something full of potential.

There are only two types of people that exist in this world: the ones who are positive and the ones who are negative.
Which one you are, that's for you to decide.
"who reads comics anyway... thats for kids..."

Meh, I learnt at some point that over here.. The industry(everything) kinda just want to catch up with the rest of the world. I think this ideology formed is a result of us being under foreign rule for the past 100s of years and had a lot to catch up once we were liberated.

Thing is, speeding up production don't really work well within the art world, particularly the visual one. And so yeah.. Comic industry here is a sad thing. Even if one does get in the industry, it would be most likely that he/she will be asked to do a comic that the people like, whether he/she doesn't like it or not.

Me, apart from being a hard labour (no thanks though) and anything about visual arts.. I don't really have much else of skills and that I couldn't do well in them. Thinking I'm stuck in this kinda backwards art world makes me sad.. But you know I gotta make it. Else I'd end up dead not being able to make a living.

Oh well, I guess at some point people just got to keep their dreams, work to achieve it anyhow and wait for the time to come. Even until one dies whether succeeding that dream, or not. Alternatively, since doing comic in its purest form is about getting heard.. Well try to make do with the few readers you've gotten yourself for the moment. It's kinda awkward, but it's really all these people that keeps one living. And that it pretty much fulfilled the basic reason to doing comics.

It's a world with not much people being understanding after all. D:
Kinda awkward.. Out there people make a living doing comics about what they want to tell and people buy into that. Here, that doesn't even work out. What the heck is the purpose of a comic then???

And similarly this is the age where it matters not whether you're an artist who can draw well or not, it's all about whether you can INNOVATE."
Why do you think I'm doing Mass Communications? 8D I'm lucky I like Mass Comm.

The thing about the comic industry here is it's still new and a little stubborn. I just heard from a very famous Malaysian DA artist that the publishers won't publish comics that show cigarettes or tattoos anymore, huge debate about it on the journal. Malaysia is still not as open-minded. And while we have Gempak which publishes comics/manga, it's still Gempak and the many comics they sell are just compilations of the manga the artists do for their magazines (which is not many). We don't have independent manga/comic companies like Marvel, DC or Tokyopop who do comics independently. Places like Marvel, Archie and DC give many Americans job opportunities like inkers, writers, colors and stuff, while Tokyopop encourages and scouts for new talents to publish their own manga. Most of Malaysia's comics get put out only on magazines, independent artists like you and myself have to rely on our own doujinshi sales. Artists like :iconxanseviera: and :iconsureya: despite how awesome they are, they still face a lot of red tape when making manga and their work is always getting rejected, not because they're not good (what, they ROCK!) but because the editor doesn't like it and there's no space in the Utopia or Starz magazine.

So in conclusion, the Malaysian comic industry is still new and open for improvement, but it refuses to take a step forward to make that improvement. That's why people like us, are stuck.

i think you probably heard of a current comic mag that just stop publishing due to poor sales. that is another case of comic industry in malaysia.

erm.. you got a mistake somewhere, "do a comic that the people like", not really, its do a comic that the boss likes,i dun really recall hearing a word about local comics and their a fan of this comic.

people here just look at the picture of the comic, they dun even wanna know what is the story about. bummer huh...
